CHINESE-SPEAKING SUB-EDITOR REQUIRED FOR
SHORT-TERM CONDÉ NAST TRAVELLER EDITORIAL PROJECT, BASED IN CENTRAL LONDON

(Start date is 30 March)

An experienced magazine sub-editor is required for a six-week project working on a Condé Nast Traveller publication for the Chinese market. The position involves working closely with the editorial team in our central London office(working remotely is not possible), using InDesign and InCopy. The copy will have already been translated from English into Simplified Chinese. As well as subbing on layout, the sub-editor will need to check cromalin-proofs and create headlines and sells. Due to the editorial and cultural intricacies of the project, a native Chinese speaker is required. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of editing publications in Simplified Chinese, a good grasp of the English language and idioms, and up-to-date awareness of cultural trends and icons in mainland China. A valid UK work visa is essential.

The Executive Assistant's primary responsibility will be to manage the administration for Condé Nast International Restaurants, under the general direction of the Director of Restaurants and within the limits of established Condé Nast International policies and procedures.

The newly created Video & Production department are seeking a Creative Producer for GQ Magazine. You will be a key member of the Video & Production team, responsible for leading the production of GQ video content of extremely high creative standards, which leads, enhances, builds and develops GQ's reputation in video.  You will work with and support the Director of Video Content and the GQ Editorial team to commission and produce editorial videos.

The suitable candidate will have previous experience in producing editorial and branded content and be comfortable writing presentations and treatments to communicate the GQ video ideas and plans. You will have managed shoot budgets and expenditure for your previous productions to a commercial level. The Condé Nast Facilities Department is looking for a PA/Administrator to provide personal administration to the Head of Facilities and general support to make sure House Services runs efficiently, especially during times of staff shortages. Daily tasks will include answering phone calls, email and diary management, filing, generating reports, writing, data entry, managing the post, checking invoices, ordering stationary and other online procurement.

You will be the main point of contact for facilities requests and administering the helpdesk to ensure that requests are passed to the correct department or contractor. Other responsibilities include ensuring health & safety files are kept up to date, carrying out internal paperwork audits and becoming a trained member of the workstation assessment team and carrying out DSE assessments as required.

You will work closely with the Head of Facilities, Facilities Manager, House Services team members, external contractors and all internal members of staff. You will work with the Director of Video Content to manage the production infrastructure of Condé Nast UK - responsible for running production across all publications and ensuring that the systems are in place so that productions run smoothly, meet deadlines, stay within budgets, are staffed appropriately, are safe and are legally compliant.

You will closely monitor schedules, approve all budgets, manage and write contracts, write and approve all risk assessments and approve all call sheets. It is essential that you have a comprehensive understanding of cost managers and cost reports for which you will be solely responsible for and report on. Additionally, you will need to provide any contingencies during pre-production and shooting, and prepare workable alternative plans.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experienced within production and substantial experience in contract writing and negotiating
  • Comfortable with amending/revising contracts without legal guidance
  • Experience of managing Million £+ budgets as well as being comfortable managing small budgets and achieving great content with minimal spend
  • Experience of working in TV and for online platforms with a comprehensive understanding of video content processes for TV shows/films with brands/clients

  • Experience of managing multiple productions, approx. 10-20 at once

You will be expected to help enhance the video sales propositions and work collaboratively with the sales teams to sell through video. You will need to manage a team of strategists ensuring that they are supporting the sales teams to successfully sell video projects to existing clients.

  • Very experienced within strategy with more recent experience in content strategy and previous experience working within a creative or advertising agency with experience of working on video-driven pitches and projects

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with key stakeholders, plan, create, manage and execute segmented email communications to drive both print and digital edition subscription acquisition (both solus and integrated with wider marketing campaigns)
  • Develop and implement welcome series/CRM programmes to maximise subscriber engagement and retention. Integrate trigger email campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle to maximise response.
  • Manage subscriptions database - liaise with suppliers to optimise data feeds, ensure data protection compliance, analyse data to optimise segmentation/customise customer experience and identify opportunities for data enhancements to improve the quality of insight available/campaign response rates.
  • Optimise use of company-wide database to drive subscriptions - working with internal stakeholders to schedule and integrate appropriate marketing/re-permission email campaigns through all areas of the business.
  • Develop A/B testing strategy, analyse, report and act on relevant campaign metrics.
  • Ensure all email campaigns comply with current industry and internal email best practices - ranging from data protection to personalisation and optimisation for mobile to improve response.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have a unique mix of creative and analytical ability with email /online marketing experience and strong organisational and communication skills:

  • Highly analytical with proven ability to interpret, analyse and translate customer insight data and campaign results into actionable marketing plans.
  • Extensive experience of customer database marketing at key user level - analysing, selecting and exporting data using variable criteria (using FastStats or similar software).
  • Demonstrated success in developing, executing, analysing and reporting on campaigns through email and other online marketing channels including social media.
  • A creative mind with an eye for design and good email copywriting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise, work under pressure to  tight deadlines and manage a large number of campaigns at once.
  • Basic HTML /ability to use software (e.g. Photoshop) to resize and replace images is expected.
  • Confident working with an ESP (e.g. Adestra) and with reporting tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Knowledge of best practices for email creative and templates, segmentation, testing methodologies.
