VOGUE EDITORIAL
Art Production Assistant - 117

The successful candidate will be responsible for some layout design, but will primarily be a technical hand, taking the digital edition to repro, handling the editorial metadata, and animating pages using Adobe Edge, Final Cut, or After Effects, to include video or animations for layouts as required.

This role is a backbone to the increasingly busy Art desk, as new technology demands careful transferral of the magazine content on to different platforms, including iPhone.  The Art team rely on this person, together with the Digital Asset Manager, to make sure all these assets are carefully pulled together. This can entail everything from compressing video to backing up all our monthly editions, as well as producing and delivering promotional material of the new issue for digital platforms. The Production Assistant will be constantly monitoring new technical trends and developments in order to ensure that Vogue's digital editions are including all the latest and best digital design features we may need. 

A good knowledge of the whole Creative Suite is vital, knowledge of the Adobe DPS tools and HTML experience is important and as well as a keen interest and experience in digital design and Vogue's design aesthetic.

Head of Design - 115

Condé Nast Digital UK is seeking a Head of Design to establish and lead the creative direction of the CN digital team by working closely with the Digital Director to set the creative strategy across product and commercial. To generate forward thinking creative ideas, to be a strong brand ambassador for CN and to inspire and lead the design team members. 

Reporting to the Digital Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • To be a strong, authoritative leader when liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Work with Digital Director to set clear creative strategy across the Condé Nast Digital portfolio
  • Generate creative and forward thinking new design ideas across editorial products and commercial solutions
  • To have excellent knowledge of the design ethos and approach of our competitors across editorial and commercial development
  • To be able to devise proactive commercial creative concepts for advertisers and deliver the ideas in a clear and professional manner
  • Ensure the highest level of quality and attention to detail is maintained throughout the design and development process and that, liaising with the head of Project Management, all editorial and commercial stakeholders are included and appraised of development
  • Work closely and professionally with sales teams, project managers, designers and developers
  • Understand and contribute to the overall digital strategy, and create processes, UX and designs that contribute to it 
  • To retain the creative integrity and brand identity of all Condé Nast titles,
    balancing the needs of readers and advertisers through design and UX
  • To mentor and develop design team and oversee freelancers
  • Liaising and coordinate pitches and development work with promotions managers within the brand teams
  • Attend and present at high level sales meetings and pitches
  • Work with product development team and editorial team to deliver new editorial products

Desired Skills & Experience

Design qualification to degree level (or equivalent), significant years commercial and/or editorial digital design experience, proficient in Adobe Suite and comprehensive understanding of all emerging digital platforms and technologies including the latest developments in user-centric design and responsive design.

Proven experience of managing a design team.  Strong leadership and excellent
communication skills are essential. A proficient understanding of the luxury
and fashion clients business is also vital for the key position. Experience
with video, native and creative solutions is beneficial.

CONDÉ NAST INTERNATIONAL
Fashion Cupboard Manager Internship - 114
(6-month Internship paid at National Minimum Wage)

Condé Nast International seeks an experienced fashion assistant to run the fashion cupboard of the London Head Office. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the industry and demonstrate the ability to work independently to source items for fashion editors of Tatler, Allure and Glamour
Russia and other international titles.

Previous fashion cupboard experience is a prerequisite. A degree and/or masters qualification in a related field is highly advantageous. Must have experience in the fashion industry, having worked for an established fashion house, publishing, marketing, merchandising, buying or PR company is also crucial.

Key responsibilities in the role are:

  • Oversee cupboard organisation and tidiness
  • Provide the fashion assistants with steadfast support, being super-efficient and readily available to help when you are asked to do something
  • Manage the filing of dockets and all paperwork in an organised manner, and consistently stay on top of call-ins that come in to the fashion cupboard and those that leave, assisting with returns.
  • Keep good time management and awareness so that attention is split equally between jobs
  • Liaise with, and build relationships, with PRs and fashion assistants

THE WORLD OF INTERIORS EDITORIAL
Italian Speaking PA/Production Assistant - 113

A varied and exciting role has arisen for an Italian speaker in the editorial department of The World of Interiors. 

We are looking for a bright and intuitive individual to act as PA to the Editor, answer reader enquiries, keep tabs on house stories past, present and future, and assist a small and busy creative department. 

Alongside this, the successful applicant will be responsible for organising our bi-annual photographic shoots of modern furniture in Italy. Fluent Italian will be essential, as will a talent to solve the potential problems inherent in putting together an enormous shoot abroad - from working out the budget to securing the location and co-ordinating the delivery of the selected furniture.

The job will suit someone who thrives on juggling serious responsibilities and who wishes to learn what makes the magazine tick.

TATLER EDITORIAL
Acting Deputy Picture Editor - 112
(Maternity-Cover Contract)

TATLER is seeking an experienced Deputy Picture Editor with a passionate interest in modern and archival photography to join its editorial department on a maternity-cover basis.

The successful candidate will help provide all visual content for Tatler, including imagery for cover, beauty, fashion and travel features. Picture research will be one of the main aspects of the role, so an in-depth knowledge of picture agencies, particularly archive agencies, is essential. An interest in Tatler is important, as is an understanding of what makes it unique.

In collaboration with the Acting Picture Editor, the deputy will help organise photoshoots and will liaise externally with photographers, photo libraries, hair and make-up artists and studios.

The successful candidate will also undertake many of the regular tasks of a busy picture department, from scanning images for layouts, dealing with returns and ordering prints for repro, to working with budgets and invoices, and negotiating fees with image libraries.

The person we are looking for will need to be comfortable working as part of a small team, extremely well organised, confident and efficient, with a pleasant telephone manner and good 'people skills'. Computer literacy is essential, as well as strong Adobe Photoshop CS skills. Some experience of data management systems would be useful but is not crucial.

Wired.co.uk has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic news journalist to join its in-house editorial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and writing our
early-morning news from 6am until 2pm, and will have extensive knowledge of
WIRED's core areas of interest: technology, business, science, culture and
startups. A talent for researching and delivering stories that appeal primarily
to a UK audience would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be able to write short, extremely accurate news items under tight, regular deadlines throughout working hours, each with a strong WIRED voice and irresistible headline. These need-to-know stories will set the day's agenda and drive conversation.

DAM Support & Administration - 110

Condé Nast International is seeking a an experienced candidate to act as the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system administrator across all Condé Nast International owned and operated markets for the Adobe CQ5 (AEM) DAM and associated software products. You will also be required to coordinate Product development activities and feature requests from users.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Configuration and administration of the DAM
  • Manage support requests, through CNI's incident, change and issue tracking tools from both IT helpdesks and users in each of CNI markets (English only - other languages are an advantage but not essential)
  • Triage support requests and provide responses to questions and issues ensuring that SLA's and OLA's are met
  • Assign support requests to suppliers, track incidents, update users and provide reports
  • Provide training and support to users as required
  • Ensure that DAM documentation is up-to-date including user guides and training materials
  • Manage and update the knowledge base
  • Work with the Service Delivery Manager to ensure suppliers and resources are supporting DAM software releases
  • Manage feature requests from the project team, users and IT people in CNI markets
  • Coordinate the Design committee meetings, track actions and manage feature requests
  • Liaise with end users and IT users  to ensure feature requests are fully
    understood and report back to the Design committee
  • Liaise with CNI's Business Analyst to validate any complex feature requests
  • Assign and track the agreed feature requests into the Sprint process
  • Update documentation as required

Candidates willing to pursue this position should have the following:

  • Proven experience working as a system administrator in the areas outlined above
  • Experience working in an Agile Development Environment - desirable
  • Related knowledge and experience in business management and core system configuration
  • Experience of magazine publishing life cycle and systems are considered beneficial

HOUSE & GARDEN EDITORIAL
Features Editor - 109

HOUSE & GARDEN is looking for an experienced Features Editor with a strong interest in interiors, design and architecture, a well-honed eye, and a flair and curiosity for finding and telling a story.

This is a senior position, working closely with the Editor, and is likely to include:

  • Assisting the Editor to commission each issue
  • Choosing and commissioning writers for the house features, guiding those commissioned writers and, where necessary, editing their copy
  • Occasional viewing of potential houses. Liaising with the art department on choice of photographers for house features and sometimes
    directing the shoots, as well as writing house stories.
  • Finding, researching, writing, and directing photography for other features, as well as working with the art team on the layout for these features.
  • Vetting photographic features submitted on spec, and, in conjunction with the editor, selecting those for acceptance
  • Overseeing various news and profile pages
  • Attending events, daytime and evenings, and being an ambassador for House & Garden. 
  • Further duties include reading final proofs of house features

A strong visual instinct, as well as a particular affinity for words and a keen attention to detail is important. They will have the confidence and diplomacy to guide more junior staff in editing and writing their pages. They will be a team player within a relatively small, close-knit editorial department.

WIRED is offering an editorial internship beginning in September at its London office on a paid six-month fixed-term basis. This presents a rare and valuable opportunity to participate in magazine production, online reporting and conference curation at the highest level. The successful candidate will also be offered the chance to continue her or his relationship with WIRED by contributing to the magazine and website on a freelance basis.

The editorial intern will be actively involved in generating ideas for the various magazine sections, writing items as required, researching and fact-checking, liaising with contributors, and performing other tasks across the brand's many digital platforms and events programme as required.

We are looking for an energetic, driven individual who can show evidence of being committed to journalism as a career. Candidates must also demonstrate a close familiarity with the magazine and understand its particular editorial and design requirements. A passion for technology, science and culture is an absolute must. Knowledge of publishing systems, Adobe InDesign and InCopy is advantageous. Experience writing original copy for a print or online publication is, naturally, also preferable, though not essential.
